Daily Sketch for 1/31/2014

Devil Boy.

This is a character I've been kicking around in my head for a while and finally decided to draw him.

Daily Sketch for 1/30/2014

This was inspired by the recently leaked photos of the TMNT for the upcoming live action movie. I've only really seen a few blurry photos, but so far, I'm kind of digging the designs. Can't wait to see a trailer!

Daily Sketch for 1/28/2014

I've been working on my cartooning and keep coming back to animals. They're way more fun to draw than stupid humans.

Felt like drawing a cute little bunny rabbit and this came out instead.

Daily Sketch for 1/26/2014

This is a shoutout to local Tulsa rapper Dr. Freeman, a member of the Oilhouse collective. If there's one thing I know rappers like, it's being drawn as Peanuts characters.

I watched my wife run a 5K marathon today and was inspired. This one's for you, babe!

Spider-Men

Here's the full page of drawings from Spider-Week. It's kind of neat to see all of them on the same page together.

Tap dancing velociraptor AKA "VelocirapDancer"

Perhaps the greatest achievement of my life is coming up with this.

Daily Sketch for 1/19/2014

Peter Parker, Spider-Man

And so ends Spider-Week. The idea of a week long theme is pretty cool and is something I'll probably try again soon.

Black Costume Spider-Man

As you can probably tell, all of this week's Spidey drawings are on the same sheet of paper. After I finish drawing Spideys, I'll post a shot of the entire page.

The Superior Spider-Man

Say what you want about the Doc Ock version of Spider-Man, but you can't deny that this costume is awesome.

Leonard & Bronson from "Super Cute"

It was only a matter of time before these two gents showed up here. For those of you who read the webcomic, I promise more Super Cute is coming! I'm currently halfway through a long-form Super Cute story and hope to have it ready for your reading pleasure later this year.

You can see the making of each of these drawings here & here.

Daily Sketch for 1/11/2014

I'm going to be honest with you: That Mickey from yesterday's blog was garbage. I only had about ten minutes at lunchtime yesterday to draw something, so I rushed through it. I was fine with it at first, but the more I thought about it, the more embarrassed by it I was. So much, in fact, that I actually lost sleep because of it. My goal for today was to try again, but this time, make sure it's not horrible. And while today's effort isn't perfect, it's a step in the right direction and a bit closer to my natural drawing style.

I'm trying to get a handle on Mickey Mouse, but it's harder than it looks. Also, I do a pretty kickass impression of Mickey, so if you ever see me in real life, have me do it for you.

Daily Sketch for 1/9/2014

Nightcrawler.

He's another favorite character of mine that I really like, but rarely draw. Oh, and that nose in the bottom right corner belongs to this little fella:

I actually drew this dog last week sometime, but he never made it to my blog. So there you go, a twofer!

Daily Sketch for 1/8/2014

"Widdle Ninja"

Had a slight bit of Artists'-block today, so I drew a tiny ninja that probably consumes way too many Hot Pockets.

"Black Fox"

This came from doodling. It turned out pretty well, I think. Almost looks like a logo. I might have to refine this later down the road.

"Sandwich Riding A Bicycle"

This one was suggested by Nicky Goodwin. It started out as a quick little sketch but rapidly turned into a fully-inked piece. It's easily my favorite thing that I've drawn this year so far. Great suggestion, Nicky!

If you have a suggestion for a daily sketch, let me know!

Ten years ago today, I asked the cute girl I just met to be my girlfriend. And now we've been married for 3 and a half years.

This one's for you, babe.

Daily Sketch for 1/2/2014

Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew). I love her character design but have rarely drawn her. Hopefully this represents one of several attempts to get her right. I drew this in a more traditional superhero style. I've been drawing everything so cartoony lately, I thought I'd change it up a little. This style definitely needs improvement, but hey, it's only Day 2 of 365, so I'm sure I'll have the opportunity.

Daily Sketch for 1/1/2014

It's been a while since I've posted on here, but seeing that's it's a brand new year, I thought I'd change that by doing a drawing a day for the next 365 days. Somedays the drawings may be more detailed than others, but as long as some type of artwork gets made, I'm counting it as a win. The main purpose of this is to focus myself on drawing more consistently and generally become a better artist.

Today's entry is of two of my favorite characters ever in the history of anything, Spider-Man and Raphael. They came out super cartoony, which is now my default art style after working on the webcomic Super Cute for so long.

I hope you'll check back regularly as the year progresses. Follow me on Twitter (@BrentHibbard) and let me know if there's anything you'd like to see!
